Catharine Langrish (née Macpherson)

Catharine brings 14 years’ experience and an outstanding track record of successful fundraising for charities of all types, sizes and objectives.

An experienced all-round fundraising manager, she has particular strengths in strategic planning, start-ups, operations, trust and major donor fundraising, bid-writing and team development. As a graduate in Sociology and with a part-time Masters in Peace Studies, Catharine’s fundraising career started at Friends of Birzeit University, before moving on to Minority Rights Group, CIIR (now Progressio) and the Resource Alliance, where she was responsible for winning significant bids and co-ordinating the fundraising efforts of programme staff.

At Sue Ryder Care, Catharine was responsible for setting up a trust fundraising programme, and raised trust income from £70K to £500K a year, as well as training and supporting local fundraisers. During Catharine’s time at Rethink she headed up the fundraising team and increased the annual fundraised income from £1.5 million to £5 million in four years. Catharine’s team was responsible for securing substantial grants from trust and statutory sources, including a £1.2 million grant from the Big Lottery Fund.

Working as a consultant, Catharine now supports a wide range of organisations to develop and implement new strategies and specific programmes, and to up-skill and support fundraising teams to meet their particular organisational objectives and income goals. Whatever the task in hand, Catharine is a conscientious and focused consultant. She combines her strategic, analytical and relationship-building skills with a rigorous approach to project management approach and close attention to detail.

Catharine is currently completing an MSc in Charity Fundraising and Marketing at South Bank University. She lives with her husband and young daughter in Middlesex, and enjoys getting out to the countryside, travel, reading, suduko and spending time with friends and family.
