Situation

In order to support their new fundraising & volunteering strategy, Marianne Radcliffe, recently appointed as Head of Fundraising & Volunteering at BrendonCare, realised that they needed to invest in some new technology;

 

“We needed a new system to help us manage our volunteers and nurture our key supporters” said Marianne.  “This was a significant long-term investment for BrendonCare, so I wanted some independent advice to help us make the right choice of system.”

Challenges

 

BrendonCare is a registered charity that was established 20 years ago. It has seven care homes for physically and mentally frail older people across England.

 

Three of the homes have Close Care housing schemes attached, where residents benefit from living in their own home, while enjoying the added security of care services delivered directly to their homes if and when they are needed. BrendonCare also offers respite care, home care and day care to individuals living in the communities surrounding the homes.

 

“BrendonCare is now planning to expand its portfolio of care facilities with the introduction of a volunteering program, to enable residents to enjoy physical and mental activities well into their old age.  Our key challenge was that we had a limited budget – both for buying the system and for implementing it” said Marianne.

Solution

“BrendonCare needed to choose a system that was right for their long-term needs, but had neither the time nor money for a detailed procurement process. We needed to be really focussed, identifying key elements of BrendonCare’s strategy – volunteer management, major donor development, cross-organisational working – and identifying the best solution to meet these needs. We were also up-front with the suppliers about the need for flexibility on pricing.”
